How to get query string values in Javascript, jQuery

One of the common and frequently required task is how to read query string parameter in javascript. Here is a function which will return value of query string parameter just need to pass the name of parameter.


function getParameterByName(name)
{
  name = name.replace(/[\[]/, "\\\[").replace(/[\]]/, "\\\]");
  var regexS = "[\\?&]" + name + "=([^&#]*)";
  var regex = new RegExp(regexS);
  var results = regex.exec(window.location.search);
  if(results == null)
    return "";
  else
    return decodeURIComponent(results[1].replace(/\+/g, " "));
}
